Help Buddy find his bone!
Buddy the Basset Hound recently went on a soul-searching tour around the world in the hopes of learning more about his doggy ancestry. He took his favourite rubber bone with him for company and, on the whole, had a fantastic time. But somewhere along the way, weary from his travels, he fell asleep and when he awoke, his bestest bone was gone! All Buddy remembers is dreaming about burying his bone, so he must have buried it in his sleep. The only problem is, he can’t remember where. He’s hoping that revisiting all the places on his Grand Canine Tour will jog his memory and help him recall just where his bone might be. However, his Canine Passport has expired, so it’s down to YOU, intrepid virtual explorers, to follow in his footsteps and track down his bone!

We need top explorers to be able to sniff out the clues and eliminate all but one of the map locations on Buddy’s Bone Map. You’ll need to explore various locations via Google Street view in order to spot the information you need to solve this mystery. Every sneaky clue you answer will match one of the place names on the map below. Once matched, you should cross that place off. Buddy didn’t do any burying there. Solve all the clues and you’ll be left with just one spot on the map. This must be where Buddy dozed off and buried his bone in his sleep!

Adventure Details
On this quest, you’ll need to follow in Buddy’s paw steps and travel the globe, solving clues that will help jog Buddy’s memory. There’s limited time, so you’ll need to explore virtually with the help of Google Maps. Match each clue answer to one of the place names on Buddy’s Bone Map. Cross each place off as you go.

Fasten your seatbelts, open Google Maps on your chosen device, and get ready for a whirlwind tour of canine delights! Visit the location specified in each clue box, then enter street view mode to search for the answer. (Drag the little orange man, or press and hold on the map on a mobile.)

Buddy started his tour in Woodfern, Shropshire, and so should you. Buddy didn’t find any canine tales, but he did find his first answer.
Examine the signs on the grass in front of the pub and spot what’s listed above ‘Celebrate’. Match this to a place on Buddy’s Bone Map and cross it off – no bone here!

Next stop is Hound Tor Rocks near Newton Abbot. Buddy was after something a bit more scenic but got distracted by picnic scraps in the car park. Sniff around the signposts by the road turn off to the car park to spot the name of a ‘gate’. The first three letters of this gate name match the start of another spot to delete.

Buddy then ventured across the pond to Poodle Beach, DE, USA! He wanted to go for a paddle but was unsure. Search around the end of South Boardwalk for the red sign that put him off. The word between WARNING and UNGUARDED also appears on the map. Cross it off – he didn’t bury his bone here.

Head up to St. Bernard’s High School, Fitchburg, MA. Buddy thought he might learn something here. He got excited at the three big words in a triangle in front of the main entrance. Add one letter to the start of the shortest of the three, and you’ll see why! This new word also appears in a map location to discard.

Buddy’s bone is made of rubber – ideal for travelling! Buddy loves chewing his bone. He says it’s very pleasurable and helps to stave off boredom when he’s got nothing else to do. He says it also stimulates the release of endorphins, which are awesome hormones associated with happiness.

Inspired by the school’s name, Buddy headed to the Great St. Bernard Hospice in Switzerland. Examine the road that goes between the two hospice buildings. Look up to seek a word between HOSPICE and EGLISE – it’s one Buddy picked out as something special. Translate it and then use it to eliminate a map location.

Next stop is Chihuahua, Mexico! Sniff your way around the Plaza de Amras in front of the Metropolitan Cathedral. Locate the Banco Commercial Mexica no building and peek around the corner on the left-hand side. You’ll find a dog here! Match what’s above it to a spot on the map and cross it off.

Buddy was getting homesick, so he headed back to the UK and sniffed out Greyhound Drive, Bradford. Explore along here to spot something interesting on the roof of one of the buildings. You’ll know it when you see it! Use it to cross off another spot from Buddy’s Bone Map – he didn’t bury his bone here.

Buddy’s final tour stop was the Isle of Dogs, London. First, locate the old launch ramp of SS Great Eastern. Then, find the big chain on the ground and look across the river. Count the white arches on the building opposite. This will give you the number of vowels in the last place to remove from Buddy’s Map.
