5. Setup uye Kuiswa

For optimal protection, install smoke detectors in every sleeping room and on every level of your home, including the basement. For homes with multiple levels, install a smoke detector in the hallway outside of sleeping areas.
- Install on the ceiling in the center of the room or hallway.
- If ceiling mounting is not possible, install on a wall between 4 and 12 inches (10-30 cm) from the ceiling.
- Avoid placing detectors near windows, doors, or air vents where drafts could interfere with smoke detection.
- Keep detectors at least 20 feet (6 meters) away from cooking appliances to minimize false alarms.

6.3 Silencing the Alarm
In case of a non-emergency alarm (e.g., from cooking fumes), press the 'TEST/SILENCE' button to temporarily silence the alarm for approximately 10 minutes. The detector will automatically reset after this period.
6.4 Alarm Sound Gradient
When the test button is pressed to activate the test alarm or when smoke triggers the alarm, the first six sounds are low decibels. The sound starts low and gradually increases in volume from the seventh sound onwards. This progressive increase in volume is a design feature to prevent startling occupants.
