This manual provides essential information for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Juniper EX2200-24T-4G Layer 3 Switch. The EX2200 series switches are designed to deliver high-performance, wire-rate forwarding capabilities, even with advanced control plane features enabled. This device incorporates an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC)-based Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) with an integrated CPU, ensuring consistent performance and reliability.
2. Chigadzirwa Pamusoroview
The Juniper EX2200-24T-4G is a compact, high-performance Layer 3 Ethernet switch. It features 24 10/100/1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet ports for network connectivity and 4 Gigabit Ethernet SFP (Small Form-Factor Pluggable) uplink ports for fiber optic connections to other network devices or the core network.

Mufananidzo 1: Front panel of the Juniper EX2200-24T-4G switch. This image displays the front panel of the Juniper EX2200-24T-4G switch. It features 24 RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet ports, numbered 0 through 23, arranged in two rows. To the right, there are four SFP (Small Form-Factor Pluggable) uplink ports, typically used for fiber optic connections. Status LEDs for system (SYS), alarm (ALM), speed (SPD), duplex (DX), enable (EN), and Power over Ethernet (POE) are also visible on the right side. Note that this specific model (EX2200-24T-4G) does not support PoE.

3. Setup
3.1 Kusunungura
Carefully remove the switch and all accessories from the packaging. Verify that all components listed in the packing list are present. Retain the packaging materials for future use or transport.
3.2 Kuiswa
The EX2200-24T-4G switch can be deployed as a desktop unit or rack-mounted. For rack mounting, use the provided rack-mount kit and secure the switch in a standard 19-inch equipment rack. Ensure adequate airflow around the device for proper cooling.
3.3 Kubatanidza Simba
- Connect one end of the provided AC power cord to the AC power receptacle on the rear panel of the switch.
- Connect the other end of the power cord to a grounded AC power outlet.
- Ensure the power source provides the correct voltage (240 Volts).
3.4 Kubatanidza Network Cables
- RJ45 Ports: Connect standard Ethernet cables (Cat5e or higher) from your network devices (computers, servers, access points) to the 24 RJ45 ports on the front panel.
- SFP Uplink Ports: Insert compatible SFP transceivers into the 4 SFP uplink ports. Connect fiber optic cables from these transceivers to your core network or other switches.
3.5 Yekutanga Configuration Access
To perform initial configuration, connect a console cable (RJ-45 to DB-9) from your management workstation to the console port on the switch. Use a terminal emulation program (e.g., PuTTY, Tera Term) with the following settings: 9600 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, no flow control. Alternatively, if the switch has a default management IP, you can connect via a web browser or SSH after basic network connectivity is established.
4. Kushanda
4.1 Simba On/Kudzima
Once the power cord is connected, the switch will automatically power on. There is no separate power button. To power off, disconnect the power cord from the AC outlet.

- SYS (Sisitimu): Indicates overall system status. Green for normal operation, amber for a fault.
- ALM (Alarm): Inoratidza mamiriro ealarm.
- SPD (Kumhanya): Indicates the link speed of the corresponding port.
- DX (Duplex): Indicates the duplex mode (half or full) of the corresponding port.
- EN (Batidza): Indicates if the port is enabled.
- POE (Power over Ethernet): This LED is present but not functional on the EX2200-24T-4G model as it does not support PoE.
4.3 Junos OS
The switch runs on Juniper Networks' Junos operating system. Configuration and management are primarily performed via the command-line interface (CLI) accessible through the console port or SSH. Junos provides a robust and feature-rich environment for network management.
5. Kuchengeta
