4.1. LED Zviratidzo
- GPS Status LED: Indicates GPS signal acquisition. Blinks when searching for satellites, solid when a fix is obtained.
- Bluetooth Status LED: Indicates Bluetooth connection status. Blinks when discoverable/pairing, solid when connected.
- Battery Status LED: Indicates battery charge level and charging status.
5. Setup
5.1. Kuchaja Chishandiso
- Connect the mini USB charging cable to the Mini USB port on the side of the BT-Q818XT (refer to Figure 4.2).

To power on the device, slide the switch on the side (refer to Figure 4.3) from 'OFF' to either '1Hz' or '10Hz'. To power off, slide the switch to 'OFF'.

To connect the BT-Q818XT to a compatible Bluetooth-enabled device (e.g., Android smartphone, Windows laptop):
- Ensure the BT-Q818XT is powered on and within range of your host device.
- On your host device, enable Bluetooth and search for new devices.
- Select 'Qstarz BT-Q818XT' (or similar name) from the list of available devices.

6.2. Selecting Update Rate (1Hz / 10Hz)
The BT-Q818XT features a hardware switch to select the GPS update rate:
- 1Hz Position: Provides one GPS position update per second. This mode conserves battery life and is suitable for general navigation.
- 10Hz Position: Provides ten GPS position updates per second. This mode offers higher precision for applications requiring rapid position changes, such as performance tracking. Note that using 10Hz mode will consume battery power more quickly. Also, in 10Hz mode, differential GPS (like WAAS) may be disabled, potentially affecting absolute accuracy but improving tracking of relative changes.
6.3. Using with Navigation Software
Once the BT-Q818XT is paired via Bluetooth and has acquired a GPS fix, open your preferred navigation or mapping application on your host device. The application should automatically detect the external GPS receiver and begin using its data for positioning.
