- Autofocus: The E-PL5 uses Contrast Detection AF with 35 autofocus points. You can select focus areas using the touchscreen or directional buttons. Auto Focus Technology includes Continuous, Face Detection, Live View, Multi-area, Selective single-point, Single, Touch, and Tracking.
- Manual Focus: Switch the lens or camera to MF mode and rotate the focus ring on the lens.
- Shutter Kuburitswa: Press the shutter button halfway to focus, then press fully to capture the image. In Touch Shutter mode, simply tap the screen to focus and shoot.

The Olympus E-PL5 supports Full 1080i HD Video with Art Filter Movie and Effects. The maximum recording capacity is 29 minutes per clip.
