For optimal performance, choose a location that is:

  • Outdoors, away from direct sunlight to ensure accurate temperature readings.
  • Angangoita mashanu tsoka (5 metres) kubva pasi.
  • Away from sources of electrical interference such as microwave ovens, cell phones, Wi-Fi routers, and cordless drills, which can cause false lightning strike detections.
  • Within 330 feet (100 meters) of your compatible AcuRite weather station for reliable wireless transmission.

Use the integrated easy-mount hanger to hang the sensor on a suitable surface like a post or tree branch.

Operation

Kuonekwa Kwemheni

The sensor detects lightning strikes within a 25-mile (40-kilometer) radius. When lightning is detected, the Lightning Strike Indicator will flash, and an audible alarm will sound. The sensor transmits data every 24 seconds under normal conditions, and every 8 seconds once lightning is detected.

Tembiricha uye Humidity Monitoring

The built-in thermometer and hygrometer accurately measure outdoor temperature and humidity conditions. These readings are transmitted wirelessly to your compatible AcuRite weather station.

Maintenance

Kuchenesa

Chenesa sensor nenyoro, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents that may damage the plastic housing or electronic components.

Kutsiviwa kwebhatiri

Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on your compatible display unit. Always replace all 4 AA batteries at the same time with fresh batteries.

Kugadzirisa matambudziko

  • Hapana Kutumira Data: Ensure batteries are fresh and correctly installed. Verify the sensor is within range of the compatible weather station (up to 330 feet). Check for obstructions between the sensor and the display unit.
  • Kuverengwa kweTembiricha/Humidity Isina Kururama: Ensure the sensor is mounted in a shaded area, away from direct sunlight, which can artificially inflate temperature readings.
  • False Lightning Detections: The sensor is sensitive to electromagnetic interference. Avoid placing the sensor near appliances such as microwave ovens, cell phones, Wi-Fi routers, or other electronic devices that emit radio frequency energy. Position the sensor well away from the base unit if experiencing frequent false positives.
  • Sensor Haisi Kubatana: If the sensor does not connect to your AcuRite display, try resetting both units. Remove batteries from both, wait a few minutes, then reinsert batteries into the sensor first, followed by the display unit.
