Before physical installation, it is recommended to pair the sensor with your Z-Wave compatible hub (controller).

1. Unboxing and Component Overview:

Carefully open the packaging to reveal the sensor unit, mounting bracket, CR123A battery, and instruction manual. The sensor itself is made of plastic. On the bottom of the sensor, there is a button that releases the front cover. An orientation arrow on the left side of the sensor must point upwards when mounted. The back of the unit has two mounting holes for the mounting clip. The bottom of the unit also features a set screw hole for securing the cover. The front has a small hole for the LED indicator.

2. Kuiswa kwebhatiri:

Press the release button on the sensor to open the unit. Remove the clear plastic film from the included CR123A battery. Insert the battery into the designated compartment, ensuring correct polarity. The unit will enter inclusion/exclusion mode once the battery is inserted.

3. Pairing with Z-Wave Controller (Hub):

Before mounting, include the sensor into your Z-Wave system. Ensure your Z-Wave controller is in exclusion mode first to clear any previous pairings, then switch it to inclusion mode. Insert the battery into the sensor while the controller is in inclusion mode. The sensor's LED will indicate successful pairing. Always include your device to your controller at the location it is going to be used. The controller saves information from other Z-Wave repeating devices when a device is included.

Installation

The sensor should be installed on the top panel of your garage door to ensure accurate tilt detection. The mounting bracket can be attached using screws for wooden surfaces or double-sided adhesive tape for metal surfaces.

1. Prepare the Mounting Surface:

Clean the chosen area on the top panel of your garage door to remove any oils, grease, or dirt that might hinder the adhesive tape's effectiveness. Ensure the surface is dry.

2. Attach the Mounting Bracket:

Peel the backing off the double-sided adhesive tape and firmly attach it to the center of the mounting bracket. Ensure the support on the mounting bracket is at the bottom. Press the bracket firmly onto the cleaned surface of the garage door panel. If using screws for a wooden door, align the bracket and secure it with the two provided mounting screws.

3. Mount the Sensor:

Align the two holes on the back of the sensor with the two mounting supports on the attached bracket. Slide the sensor down onto the bracket until it clicks securely into place. Use the small set screw to further secure the sensor to the bracket. Be careful not to drop this tiny screw.

Kushanda

Once installed and paired, the Ecolink Z-Wave Plus Garage Door Tilt Sensor will automatically detect changes in the garage door's tilt angle and transmit this information to your Z-Wave compatible hub.

1. Testing the Sensor:

After installation, test the sensor's functionality. Open your garage door slightly (about a foot). The sensor should detect the tilt and update its status on your Z-Wave controller's interface (e.g., SmartThings app). Close the garage door completely, and the status should update again to 'closed'. The sensor is designed to trigger when the panel tilts sufficiently, indicating the door is open.

2. External Trigger (Optional):

The sensor includes a terminal screw on its circuit board for an external normally closed (NC) switch. This allows for additional external triggers or integration with other systems, if desired.

Maintenance

The Ecolink Z-Wave Plus Garage Door Tilt Sensor requires minimal maintenance.

1. Kutsiviwa kwebhatiri:

The sensor uses one CR123A lithium battery, which typically lasts up to five years. Your Z-Wave controller should provide a low battery alert. To replace the battery, press the release button, open the sensor cover, remove the old battery, and insert a new CR123A battery, ensuring correct polarity. Close the cover securely.

2. Kuchenesa:

Periodically wipe the sensor with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust or debris. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

Kugadzirisa matambudziko

If you encounter issues with your Ecolink Z-Wave Plus Garage Door Tilt Sensor, consider the following:

1. Sensor Not Responding:

  • Tarisa Bhatiri: Ensure the battery is correctly inserted and not depleted. Replace if necessary.
  • Z-Wave Network Range: Verify the sensor is within range of your Z-Wave controller or a Z-Wave repeater. Metal objects can interfere with signal transmission.
  • Re-pair Sensor: Try excluding and then re-including the sensor to your Z-Wave network.

2. Incorrect Status Reporting:

  • Mounting Position: Ensure the sensor is mounted on the top panel of the garage door and the orientation arrow is pointing upwards. Incorrect positioning can lead to inaccurate readings.
  • Physical Obstructions: Check for any physical obstructions that might prevent the sensor from tilting freely or interfere with its internal mechanism.
