5.1. Pre-Instalation Checks

  4. Install Lock Front Filler (if applicable): If your installation requires it, install the lock front filler according to the specific door configuration.
  5. Test Operation: Once installed, test the device by pushing the bar to ensure smooth and complete retraction of the latch bolt. Ensure the door opens freely.

6. Operating Instructions

The TACO ED-501-AL Rim Surface Exit Device is designed for intuitive and reliable operation.

6.1. Exiting a Secured Area

To exit a secured area, simply apply pressure to the push bar of the exit device. The latch bolt will retract, allowing the door to open. Release the push bar, and the latch bolt will automatically extend, securing the door once closed.

6.2. Entry (External Access)

This device is primarily for exit-only applications. For external entry, an appropriate external trim (e.g., lever or knob with key cylinder) must be installed in conjunction with the exit device. Refer to the external trim's installation manual for specific instructions.
