The back of the device has a textured surface designed for comfortable handling and grip. The Tolino logo is subtly embossed in the center.

On the bottom edge, you will find the Micro-USB port, used for charging the device and connecting it to a computer for data transfer. The power button is also located on this edge, typically next to the charging port.

4. Setup

4.1 Kutanga Kuchaja

Before first use, fully charge your Tolino Shine 3. Connect the supplied Micro-USB cable to the device's Micro-USB port and the other end to a USB power adapter (not included) or a computer's USB port. The charging indicator light will show the charging status.

  • Kubatidza: Press and hold the power button (located on the bottom edge) for a few seconds until the screen activates.
  • Kudzima: Press and hold the power button until a menu appears, then select 'Power Off'. A short press will put the device into sleep mode.

  • SmartLight: The integrated SmartLight feature automatically adjusts the color temperature of the front light from cool white to warm white, adapting to the time of day for comfortable reading. This can also be adjusted manually in the reading menu.

5.3 Managing Your Library

Books can be stored on the device's internal 8 GB memory. You can organize your library by creating collections or using search and filter functions.

5.4 Transferring Books

  • Via Wi-Fi (Tolino Cloud): If registered, you can download purchased books directly from your Tolino cloud library.
  • Via Computer (Micro-USB): Connect your Tolino Shine 3 to a computer using the Micro-USB cable. The device will appear as a removable drive. You can then drag and drop compatible eBook files (e.g., EPUB, PDF, TXT) into the device's 'Books' folder.
