Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the functionality and security of your Yale Assure Lever. Please follow these steps carefully. A Phillips head screwdriver is required for installation.

• Insert two wood screws and tighten to secure the latch.

3. Installing the Strike Plate

• Install the strike plate on the door frame, aligning it with the latch.
• Secure it with two wood screws.

4. Installing the Keypad Side of the Lever

• Check the orientation of the tailpiece on the exterior lever. Ensure the arrow is facing upward and the tailpiece is vertical.
• Position the exterior side of the lock so it sits flush on the outside of your door.
• Guide the cable from the exterior unit under the latch and through the cross borehole.

5. Installing the Interior Mounting Bracket

• Guide the cable through the hole in the interior mounting bracket.
• Ensure the mounting bracket is flush with the door and straight.
• Secure the mounting bracket with two long through-bolts. Tighten them down, but be careful not to overtighten.

6. Installing the Interior Lever

• First, remove the battery cover from the interior lever using the battery cover key.
• Take the cable and attach it to the adapter located on the interior side of the lock. The cable has two ridges on either side; these should be facing outwards when attaching to the adapter.
• Ensure the cable is securely fastened in the adapter and is not loose. Seat the cable under the cable hook located on the interior side of the lock.
• Adjust the cable so that the interior side of the lock can sit flush with the door.
• Ensure the thumb turn is in the horizontal position.
• Mount the interior side of the lock onto the mounting plate, being careful not to pinch the cable. Hook the bottom of the lock into place first and listen for the click, then push the top side of the lock into place.
• Insert the two small black screws into the provided holes in the battery compartment and tighten.

7. Inserting Key-Free Cylinder and Levers

• Insert the key-free cylinder into the opening on the keypad side of the lock. The bar on the key-free cylinder should be facing the opposite direction from where the latch is (e.g., if the door edge is on the left, the bar should face right).
• Install the interior and exterior levers by snapping them into place. Push in the spring clips using the battery key or a screwdriver as you slide the levers into place.

8. Testing the Latch Bolt

• Test the lever latch bolt by rotating the lever from both the interior and exterior sides of the door to ensure smooth operation.

9. Inserting Smart Module (if applicable) and Batteries

• If your model includes a Yale Smart Module and it has not already been inserted, do so now before the batteries are inserted. The module has visible pins that should be on the bottom right corner when inserted into the slot above the battery compartment.
• Insert the four AA batteries into the battery compartment.

• Auto-Relock: Enable the Auto-Relock feature to ensure your door automatically locks behind you after a set period.
• Backup Access: In case of dead batteries, the lever comes with 2 physical keys for manual entry. Additionally, there is a 9V battery backup charger on the keypad for temporary power.
• Reversible Handing: The lock is designed with reversible handing, fitting both left-handed and right-handed doors.
