5. Setup
5.1 Initial PIN Setup
- Chaja Chishandiso: Before first use, connect the Aegis Secure Key to a powered USB port for approximately 30-60 minutes to ensure the internal battery is charged. The blue LED will blink during charging and turn solid when fully charged.
- Power On: Press the Kiinura button (green padlock) to power on the device. The red and green LEDs will illuminate.
- Set Admin PIN:
- Press the Lock button (red padlock) and the '7' key simultaneously. The red and green LEDs will blink.
- Enter a new Admin PIN (7-16 digits).
- Press the Kiinura bhatani.
- Re-enter the Admin PIN to confirm.
- Press the Kiinura button. The green LED will blink rapidly, indicating successful PIN setup.
- Fomatira Dhiraivha: After setting the Admin PIN, connect the device to your computer. It will appear as an unformatted drive. Follow your operating system's instructions to format the drive (e.g., NTFS for Windows, HFS+ for Mac, Ext4 for Linux).
5.2 Creating User PINs (Optional)
The Admin can create up to 10 User PINs. User PINs can access data but cannot change device settings.
- Unlock the device with the Admin PIN.
- Press the Lock button and the '8' key simultaneously. The red and green LEDs will blink.
- Enter a new User PIN (7-16 digits).
- Press the Kiinura bhatani.
- Re-enter the User PIN to confirm.
- Press the Kiinura button. The green LED will blink rapidly.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Kuvhura Mudziyo
- Connect the Aegis Secure Key to a USB port.
- Press the Kiinura button. The red LED will illuminate.
- Enter your Admin or User PIN.
- Press the Kiinura button. The green LED will illuminate, and the device will be accessible.
6.2 Locking the Device
To secure your data, always lock the device when not in use.
- Manual Lock: Press the Lock button. The red LED will illuminate.
- Auto-Lock: The device will automatically lock after a period of inactivity (default is 30 minutes, configurable by Admin).
- Unplugging: Disconnecting the device from the USB port will automatically lock it.
6.3 Kuendesa Data
Once unlocked, the Aegis Secure Key functions like a standard USB flash drive. You can drag and drop files, copy, paste, and delete data as you would with any other storage device.
