  2. Flip the power switch to the 'ON' position to power on the NVR.

2.2 Connecting IP Cameras to the NVR

There are two primary methods for connecting IP cameras to your NVR:

Method 1: Direct Connection to NVR PoE Ports

This method is ideal for a simplified setup where cameras are directly powered and connected by the NVR.

  1. Connect an Ethernet cable from the network port of your IP camera to one of the PoE ports on the NVR. The NVR will provide both power and data connectivity.
  2. Repeat for all desired PoE cameras (up to 4).

Method 2: Connection via a PoE Switch (for more cameras or network flexibility)

This method is used when you have more than 4 PoE cameras or require cameras to be on a separate network segment.

  1. Connect an Ethernet cable from the NVR's LAN port to your network router.
  2. Connect all your IP cameras to a separate PoE switch using Ethernet cables.
  3. Connect the PoE switch to the same network router as the NVR. This ensures all devices are on the same local network.

2.3 Initial NVR Configuration

You can configure the NVR using a monitor, the Reolink App, or the Reolink Client software.

Method A: Configuration via Monitor

  1. Connect the NVR to a monitor or TV using a VGA or HDMI cable.
  2. Connect a USB mouse to the NVR's USB port.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to configure settings such as language, screen resolution, date/time format, device name, storage, network access, and email settings.
  4. Once configured, all connected camera channels should display on the screen.

Method B: Configuration via Reolink App

  1. Ensure your smartphone and the NVR are connected to the same local network.
  2. Launch the Reolink App. If the NVR is automatically detected, it will appear in the 'Devices' tab.
  3. Select any of the device channels to initiate the setup process.
  4. Create a device password and assign a name to your NVR. Adjust any other necessary settings.
  5. If the NVR is not automatically added, tap the '+' button in the top right corner to add it manually. You can scan the QR code on the NVR, enter the UID or IP address, or use the LAN scan function.

Method C: Configuration via Reolink Client

  1. Ensure your computer and the NVR are connected to the same local network.
  2. Launch the Reolink Client software. The NVR should be automatically detected.
  3. Set a password and device name for the NVR.
  4. If the NVR is not automatically added, use the 'Add New Device(s)' option to scan for devices in the LAN, or manually enter the UID or IP address.
