This manual provides essential instructions for setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting your Google Nest WiFi (2nd Gen) AC2200 Access Point. This device is designed to expand your existing Nest Wifi network, providing broader and more reliable Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home.

The Nest Wifi Point also functions as a smart speaker with Google Assistant built-in, allowing for voice control of your Wi-Fi network, smart home devices, music playback, and more.

Your Google Nest WiFi (2nd Gen) AC2200 Access Point package contains the following items:

  • One (1) Google Nest Wifi Point (2nd Gen)
  • Imwe (1) Power Adapter

Cherechedza: A Google Nest Wifi Router (sold separately) is required to establish your primary Wi-Fi network before adding an Access Point.

4. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to add your Nest Wifi Point to an existing Nest Wifi network.

  1. Ensure Router Setup: Verify that your primary Nest Wifi Router is already set up and providing internet access. The Nest Wifi Point cannot function independently.
  2. Sarudza Nzvimbo: Place your Nest Wifi Point in a central location within the area where you want to extend Wi-Fi coverage. Avoid placing it near large metal objects, thick walls, or other devices that may cause interference.
  3. Batanidza Simba: Plug the included power adapter into the power port on the back of the Nest Wifi Point (refer to Image 3.2) and then into a wall outlet. The device will power on automatically.
  4. Open Google Home App: On your smartphone or tablet, open the Google Home app. If you don't have it, download it from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
  5. Wedzera Mudziyo: In the Google Home app, tap the "Add" (+) icon, then select "Set up device" > "New device."
  6. Select Nest Wifi Point: The app should detect your new Nest Wifi Point. Follow the on-screen prompts to select it and begin the setup process.
  7. Scan QR kodhi: You may be prompted to scan the QR code located on the bottom of your Nest Wifi Point.
  8. Assign Location: Choose a room for your Nest Wifi Point or create a new one within the app.
  9. Zadzisa Setup: The app will guide you through connecting the point to your existing Nest Wifi network. Once connected, the device will update its software if necessary.

5. Operating Your Nest Wifi Point

Your Nest Wifi Point extends your Wi-Fi coverage and acts as a smart speaker.

Once set up, the Nest Wifi Point seamlessly integrates with your Nest Wifi network, creating a mesh system. This extends reliable Wi-Fi coverage to areas of your home that previously had weak signals. Devices will automatically connect to the strongest available signal as you move around your home, ensuring an uninterrupted connection for activities like video calls and streaming 4K content.

5.2. Google Assistant Functionality

The Nest Wifi Point includes Google Assistant. You can use voice commands for various tasks:

  • Network Management: "Hey Google, pause Wi-Fi for [device name]." or "Hey Google, run a speed test."
  • Smart Home Control: "Hey Google, turn off the lights." (Requires compatible smart home devices).
  • Mimhanzi & Varaidzo: "Hey Google, play jazz music." or "Hey Google, play [podcast name]."
  • Information: "Hey Google, what's the weather?" or "Hey Google, set a timer for 10 minutes."

An active internet connection is required for Google Assistant features.
